Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Choose suitable mounting location.

  1. Connect power: Red wire to positive (+), black wire to negative (-) of 13.8V DC source.
  2. Install antennas: Connect VHF antenna to SO-239, UHF antenna to N-type connector.
  3. Mount transceiver: Use provided brackets for secure mounting.
  4. Connect microphone: Plug into MIC jack on front panel.
  5. Attach front panel: Connect control cable if using remote mount.

WARNING! Ensure proper polarity when connecting power. Use appropriate fusing.

First-Time Setup

Power on transceiver; initialize settings.

  1. Set operating frequency: Use VFO dial or keypad to enter desired frequency.
  2. Select power level: Choose HIGH (50W/35W) or LOW (5W) as needed.
  3. Program CTCSS/DCS: Access TONE menu to set encode/decode tones.
  4. Configure scan settings: Set scan resume conditions and priority channels.
  5. Test transmission: Ensure proper operation on local repeater.

CAUTION! Verify antenna connections before transmitting.

Specifications

Controls and Functions

Front Panel: POWER, VOLUME, SQUELCH, VFO/MR, A/B band select, FUNCTION key.

Microphone: PTT, UP/DOWN buttons, 16-key keypad, MONI monitor.

Main Functions: Dual-band simultaneous receive, cross-band repeat, memory channel operation, CTCSS/DCS encode/decode, various scanning modes, tone burst, DTMF encoding, power level selection, offset direction, repeater shift.

Memory Programming

Store frequencies and settings in memory channels.

  1. Select frequency: Use VFO to tune to desired frequency.
  2. Set parameters: Configure tone, offset, power level as needed.
  3. Store memory: Press F + MR, select memory channel (0-199).
  4. Verify storage: Switch to MR mode and select channel to verify.
  5. Edit memory: Use same procedure to overwrite existing memories.

Tip: Use memory names for easy identification of stored frequencies.

Cross-Band Operation

Full duplex cross-band repeating capability.

  1. Enable cross-band: Access menu and enable cross-band function.
  2. Set bands: Designate one band as receive, other as transmit.
  3. Configure offsets: Set appropriate frequency offsets for both bands.
  4. Test operation: Verify proper repeating function.
  5. Monitor activity: Use monitor function to check both bands.

WARNING! Ensure compliance with local regulations when using cross-band repeat.

Scanning Features

Multiple scanning modes for efficient frequency monitoring.

  1. Memory Scan: Scans all programmed memory channels.
  2. Program Scan: Scans user-defined group of memory channels.
  3. Band Scan: Scans entire VHF or UHF amateur band.
  4. Priority Scan: Monitors priority channel while scanning.
  5. Set scan resume: Time or carrier operated modes available.

Tip: Use lock-out function to skip unwanted frequencies during scan.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.

Clean exterior with dry cloth only. Check antenna connections periodically. Verify power connections remain secure. Keep ventilation openings clear.

CAUTION! Do not use chemicals or liquids for cleaning. Disconnect power before maintenance.
